The Academy runs its very own weight management and nutrition course in association with the Weight Management Centre.
The course is open to all over the age of 16, regardless of exercise history and body composition. Although the course mainly targets individuals who intend to lose weight, the course can also be of benefit to all individuals in regards to educating on a healthy lifestyle.
The course is a 10-week fully inclusive weight management programme providing you with a comprehensive understanding of nutrition. Our fully trained course facilitators ensure that you are equipped and sufficiently motivated to always make the right choices.
From the outset we maintain that the course is a long-term answer to being overweight and is not a short-term solution to losing weight. Our course is designed to promote long-term positive behavioural changes through enlightenment and total staff support thus resulting in guaranteed healthy weight loss that is on-going and maintainable throughout life.
The course focuses on optimum nutrition combined with active lives. It will teach you all you need to know about healthy food choices and the correct type, duration and intensity of exercise to ensure that your training regime will bring maximum benefits.
The course is designed for anyone who is interested in nutrition and correct eating for optimum health vitality as well as weight loss.
The cost of the course is £250 for which you will receive:
- Nutrition and weight management reference pack.
- 10 nutrition & weight management tutorials.
- Unlimited nutritional support and advice from the course staff that is on-going even after the 10 week course is over.
- 10 Personal Training sessions suited not only to weight loss but individual needs as well.
- Weight, waist and bodyfat measurements and weekly records.
The Course Tutorial Format
Week 1. Introduction (enrolment, goal setting, initial measurements)
Week 2. Science of weight gain and time management
Week 3. Carbohydrates and the Glycaemic Index
Week 4. Physical activity
Week 5. Psychology of eating
Week 6. Fats
Week 7. Understanding food labels
Week 8. Energy balance and stat weight management
Week 9. Optimum nutrition
Week 10. Proteins and course evaluation
Tutorial sessions are run weekly every Monday at 7pm-8pm and Wednesday 10.30am-11.30am. You only need to attend one per session.
